Almost extinct?  No.  Plenty of U.S. Military servers still run it.  (I
am almost certain the "mm" part stands for "Military Mail.")  We also
run it at my job.  But we will stop soon:  It is not Y2K-compliant.

I can't tell you how many times I've loaded an mmdf spool file into vi
and typed "%s/^^A*$//" so I could ftp the file to a server running
/usr/ucb/mail. :-)
