I've just installed the latest version of procmail on a server running
Digital UNIX 4.0b and Innosoft's PMDF 5.1, and I'm having a big problem.
Piping mail into procmail with a .forward file (or PMDF's user
profiles) with no .procmailrc seems to corrupt the headers of incoming
mail. Normally, the first lines in the header would be something like
From sender(_at_)plu(_dot_)edu Mon Jan 25 17:45:52 1999
Return-Path: <sender(_at_)plu(_dot_)edu>
Received: from localhost by plu.edu (PMDF V5.1-12 #D3140)
with ESMTP id <0F6500J018WG4A(_at_)plu(_dot_)edu> for
receiver(_at_)plu(_dot_)edu; Mon,
25 Jan 1999 17:45:52 -0800 (PST)
After piping through procmail, I get
From receiver Mon Jan 25 17:54:29 1999
)
with ESMTP id <0F6500G019AS9J(_at_)plu(_dot_)edu> for
receiver(_at_)plu(_dot_)edu; Mon,
25 Jan 1999 17:54:28 -0800 (PST)
It looks like the top of the header is getting corrupted, as well as
the receiver rather than the sender address being put in the first line.
And when I try to do something like autoreplies, this corruption seems
to really throw it off, and it doesn't work right. Also, even the simplest
.procmailrc shows the same problem.
Any ideas on what I might need to do to fix this would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance.
