Last week, I wrote about procmail appearing to be running properly,
according to syslog and verbose incantations of sendmail, but nothing
ever happened, even with the most simple .procmailrc from one of the
FAQ's.
I never got a reply, nor did I ever see it on the list (are there *two*
procmail-related lists, one here and one at procmail.org?). I have,
however, solved my problem, and wanted to pass it along.
Apparently, I didn't give the procmail Make process enough different
options for file locking. Specifically, I needed to add at least one
NFS-mounted filesystem, since users' home directories are mounted
via the NFS automounter at login time (and when sendmail looks for
a .forward). Once I added one NFS filesystem from each of my UNIX
flavors to the list of directories to test-lock, the make proceeded
to build a procmail with all the appropriate locking built in.
