Re: Filtering out mail without a "From" header

2000-01-27 08:59:28

Unfortunately, the problem is not only related to sendmail (if it
is). I had fecthmail running to grab my mail on the POP3 server.
I had it running in demon mode as soon as I had established the ppp
connection.

Observing this problem, I stopped using fetchmail in demon to see
what was going on. What I did observe is that I soon as I connect,
my mail is getting fetch anyway WITHOUT my control! Someone is
controlling my mailbox. He is not doing it with fetchmail.

This is an end user machine and it is not used as a server for a
network. The problem is not related to local users. I am the
main user and my wife uses it once in a while.

So either I have local security problems ( I got hacked ), Or
the ISP servers have security problems ( they got hacked ).

I contacted them and they told me that they were not doing active
distribution of mail. I guess that what I could do ( if feasible ) is
to ask them to monitor my connection to see if something unusual
is happening at their end.

Cheers,

Dominic.
