Thanks a lot for your comments! From what you say, is
"word1 *($ *)?word2" always more efficient that "word1 *$? *word2" ?
In both cases the inituai " *" takes as many spaces as possible,
right?
As to \< and \> eating the newline character, I will think
about (in|ex)cluding newline if I create more appropriate ISO-Latin-1
word boundaries.
And thanks for the suggestion to place "^" before "\/". I
only needed the text and *NOT* the newline.
