Hi, I have Sendmail installed on my RH 6.1 server. I have been trying to
get procmail running now for three days. I have modified the sendmail.cf ,
the file permissions are correct. The problem is when an email is sent to an
account the .procmailrc does nothing, not even a mention in the log file.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Andrew
Don't follow the procedure outlined in man procmail to set it up on your
6.1 box. On RH 6.1 you shouldn't need to modify /etc/sendmail.cf.
Procmail is by default the MUA. Also, you don't need to use a .forward
file anymore - same reason.
I suggest you try the default /etc/sendmail.cf configuration, a simple
.procmailrc file, and see what happens.
Not writing to the log file may or may not be a Sendmail/Procmail problem.
I had a similar problem and found out that the respective client was
uploading his .procmailrc file, which he modified on a Windows box, in
binary mode. Procmail was kicking out an error message to
/var/log/maillog complaining that /home/glenlee^M/.procmaillog^M couldn't
be found (no doubt). Thanks to help from this list my client is now using
ASCII mode to upload.
