How do I create a file with the subject as the name?

I have a friend that always sends forwards that are either inspirational or 
funny.  I want to save all of those messages to a folder with the filename 
the name of the subject with dashes in place of the spaces.  If that is too 
much I can fix that later.  I have a script already designed to do 
that.  But how do I get the message to save to a file with the subject as 
the filename?
