If you use fetchmail without specifying "-mda" (or the equivalent in
your .fetchmailrc), the mail should go your local machine's MTA
(perhaps sendmail?). Your MTA would typically read your .forward file
and, if everything looks reasonable, do what the .forward file says.
If you post your .fetchmailrc, and the results of
$ telnet localhost 25
[[ your MTA's banner ]]
expn wuming
quit
that might help us tell whether you've diagnosed this correctly or
not.
