They interoperate just fine: procmail's unique filenames will never
collide with maildrop's. For maildir delivery agents that is the
definition of interoperability.
Now, there may be interoperability issues between procmail and programs
that read maildirs. I have and will continue to argue that any program
that barfs on messages delivered to maildirs by procmail because of the
format of their unique filename is violating its part of the maildir
pseudo-standard _to_no_gain_ and is therefore responsible for the
breakage.
So, what were you thinking of when you used the word 'interoperate'?
