Finally - A master recipe site??

2001-06-19 15:17:38
Hi Gang!
I've been a member of this list for almost 4 years now, and IM*H*O there are
some things that have not been done (yet).
No one has written an ORA book especially addressing procmail...<sigh> soon
perhaps???

There isn't *one* website that has a comprehensive list of recipes. There
are numerous tips pages...wildly helpful each and every one (thanks to those
who spent the time on them) but again, however not really the "one stop
shopping for all your procmail needs" Well, I'd like to do that *one*
resource site that just contains recipes, that are commented and
painstakingly explained, and attributed in exquisite detail, a sort of
clearing house for the collective thinking and experience from this list.
I'd link out to the many procmail resource sites rather than duplicate the
valuable work of others for getting started, installing, debugging etc etc.
What I'd like to do is assemble the biggest recipe resource the planet has
ever seen. I have the server(s), the bandwidth, and the wish to give
something back to this community as well as those who have inched beyond
newbie status.
The site would feature bio's of Stephen van den Berg and
Philip...(gosh...maybe even pics!) and a history of procmail, why/how it
started...the works!
I'd do a US site and a European mirror..later perhaps someone could do an
Asian mirror if it proves that this is some kind of a decent idea.

So gang, I guess I'd like to know what everyone thinks about this,
specifically:
1. Is it worthwhile?
2. Would you contribute recipes for inclusion?
3. Would you be prepared to produce a few sentences of explanation with each
recipe submitted?

There must be hundreds (or more) recipes that would help the beginner and
journeyman alike out there. Philip and David must have thousands apiece,
just to get us started!! :-)

By the way...does anyone know what happened to era?? It's like he vanished
into thin air some time back.

So fire away folks, shoot me down mercilessly if this seems a dumb
idea...don't worry just let it out!!! <laugh> Seriously, I'd like to know
what everyone thinks.

Regards to all, as always,
-Colin
