I have a problem when a user which has used imap. If they create
imap folders, imapd creates a file called .mailboxlist in the users home
directory. This file is create with permissions of 644. When an email is
sent to this person, the email bounces, with a bounce message which
says:
procmail: Insufficient privileges
That message has nothing to do with the permissions on mailboxes.
It relates to the permissions that procmail is running with, or to
attempts to generates bogus "From " lines. If the mail is bouncing,
then procmail also be generating a syslog message that says a bit more
about what didn't work. If you look in the maillog, you'll probably
find lines that read:
procmail[#####]: Insufficient privileges to deliver to "username"
How is procmail being invoked? What are the permissions on the procmail
binary? Does the user getting the bounce messgae 'reinvoke' procmail?
