Umm, when that didn't work, did you considered trying _exactly_ the
recipe I included in my message?
I did that, and it works! I removed the alias from the /etc/aliases file
some time ago, and rebuilt the aliases database using 'newaliases'. Thanks
so much for your help.
I have one other question though. The log seems to be filled with '^M'
characters, and they seem to be related to the carriage return/line feed
at the end of each line. Does anyone know why they are generated?
Can/should I be doing something to stop the production of them? I noticed
that on the
LOGFILE=$HOME/log
line, I had to add a space after 'log', or the file created would be
'$HOME/log?'. The '^M' seems to interfere with defining and concatenating
directory variables.
