Instead of setting up an alias, open a real account, set up procmail
filtering and set the default maildrop file to the string you wrote
("|/usr/lcl....")

Hi,

I have not seen the answer to this question in the faq, so here goes. I
run a web site that has a help email address. I was successful in setting
up a .procmailrc file to filter spam and viruses/worms. The problem is
that I wanted to forward the email that passed these filters to a local
newsgroup, where people here could answer the questions that come in. When
I added a line to the /etc/aliases file:

helptest: "|/usr/local/news/bin/mailpost -d local usno.aa.test"

The mail is now successfully forwarding to the test newsgroup, but now the
mail is not being filtered. Could someone tell me how to force procmail
filtering before invoking mailpost to forward the email?

Thanks,
Bill Tangren
