but thought that procmail won't be doing any locking....

procmailrc(5).
Personally, I still prefer to have procmail handle writing to mailboxes
itself. It allows it to do some recovery in case of error.

i agree; it's much better to have ugly-titled mail than no mail as
there is always "perl -p -i -e".
i want to thank everybody for their replies.
one question though: how does one start thinking in procmail so that
i could come up w/ complex/nested recipes myself?
