As for nslookups from inside procmail, would the ability to do 'A'
lookups via gethostbyname() by sufficient or do you need to do general
DNS queries?

Something that will remove the need to do things like this:
host ${REVERSED}.rbl-plus.mail-abuse.org
host ${REVERSED}.relays.ordb.org
host ${REVERSED}.sbl.spamhaus.org
That would be ... Most Groovy.
