Jacques surmised,
| typo for \$XLOOP, I presume?
Nope. Check the procmailrc(5) manual. $\variable is a procmailism for a
form of $variable with any magic characters in it defused plus an empty pair
of parentheses in front to protect an opening slash (or slash generated to
protect a character that could be magic without it) or leading whitespace.
So if $XLOOP is
npalmqvist(_at_)shipco(_dot_)com
then $\XLOOP is
()npalmqvist(_at_)shipco\(_dot_)com
instead.
