When using "|" I usually have "()" round the whole expression. I
have suspected for some time that procmail has a problem with
either long match lines or ones containing a significant number or
ORs.
personally i don't have any problems so far either w/ long lines or
a large number of OR's in a single expression so far. currently,
the largest expression is 677 characters long w/ 40 OR's. i am sure
there are even longer/more complicated working examples.
I am about to disect procmail to give a talk on the internals of
procmail.
that would be interesting.
I would suggest passing the complete message to a perl
script where you can be 100% certain on what is happening.
pass complete message to perl? then, why don't just use perl and
save the resources in addition? don't answer, it's a rhetorical
question.
