Re: LOGFILE doesn't work in .procmailrc

2002-06-08 01:53:09
1. My LOGFILE doesn't seem to work. Here is what I have written here
in my .procmailrc file:

Problem 2 will be easier to solve once problem 1 is dealt with - it
might even be the same problem - so I'll just comment on 1 for now.

MAILDIR=$HOME/mail
LOGFILE=$HOME/.procmaillog

Is $HOME/mail a directory or a file? From what you say later (things
aren't "folders" they're files), I'm not sure. It is a directory in
which mail folder/files will go (that's a *very* lax description :-) -
I'm just trying to get past the initial problem here!). If $HOME/mail
is not an existing directory, change it so that MAILDIR *does* point to
a directory.

I wonder if $HOME is not set correctly (or not set to what you expect!).
Try setting those 2 variables without using $HOME. For example, I would
do:

  MAILDIR=/home/marty/mail/
  LOGFILE=/home/marty/procmail.log

Hope that helps,
Martin
