I never have had a DEFAULT entry and it has been working O.K. I
suspect the default in the pine config file has been taking care of
it. Changed it to /home/username/mail/username but it doesn't work.
OK - DEFAULT is the place to which mail will be delivered by procmail if
you don't specify anywhere else. It has a compiled-in default that
delivers to /var/spool/mail/ for you. You need to change the value of
DEFAULT in your .procmailrc file to tell procmail to deliver it
elsewhere. Pine is not involved at this stage.
Set
DEFAULT=/home/username/mail/username
in the .procmailrc file.
You *will* want to change your pine config to read the mail from the new
location...but only once you've told procmail to deliver it there.
