Thanks very much for your help with this.
I thought that I had tried removing the manual lock earlier to no
effect, but maybe I missed something when I did that.
Anyway, it's now been running for a couple of days with no problems.
Because the problem is so intermittent, I'll have to monitor it for a
couple of weeks to be sure, but it looks good.
