viruses attached as Rar archives..

2004-04-24 07:33:48
..will now be detected by the latest release of Softlabs AntiVirus
(version 0.7), available at

http://softlabsav.sourceforge.net/

ChangeLog:

____________________________________________________________________________
 v0.7 (2004 04 24)

+ Virus detection inside Rar archives (including encrypted ones)
supported. Thus, 2 new virus main types have been added: RAR and ERAR
   virus types.

+ Warnings will now be added to the 'X-Virus-Filter' header if:
+ an attachment with a '.rar' extension is no valid Rar archive
     + Executing of 'unrar' failed
That header may look like this:

X-Virus-Filter: This message passed through Softlabs AntiVirus 0.7
WARNING: Executing of 'unrar' failed - Attached Rar archive may contain
a virus!

+ new Configuration setting 'av_DELIVER_TO_MAILDIR' can be turned on to
deliver mails to maildir formatted folders instead of using the default
mbox format. Thanks to the SourceForge user "bruce_tri" for the
   suggestion.

+ instead of checking the size of the entire mail to be within a critical
range, only the mail's body size will be checked.

best,
rob.
