Did anyone else experience these rejections because of sbl.spamhus.org
going down? Here is a sample log entry:
Aug 11 20:10:59 u2 postfix/smtpd[8915]: EF79670005: reject: RCPT from
firefox.ddlinc.com[192.168.100.1]: 554 Service unavailable; Client host
[192.168.100.1] blocked using sbl.spamhus.org;
from=<fyqesigyk(_at_)kellychen(_dot_)com>
to=<trevor_chandler(_at_)ddlinc(_dot_)com>
proto=SMTP helo=<hns2.newedgenetworks.com>
These started at 8:10 PM EST last night (Wednesday, 11 August 2004) and
continued until about 9:30 this morning when I removed sbl.spamhus.org
from my main.cf file. They stopped after I made this edit even though I
did not recycle postfix. Do changes to the main.cf get picked up on the
fly? I did recycle postfix about 11 AM when I remembered I had not done
this after the edit. It is possible (but highly unlikely) that we had no
incoming emails for that hour and a half.
Is this the way all SBL lists work; that if the service is not available
that postfix will reject all incoming emails? Is there a setting to
control this?
