This is a Mailbox in MH style.
No, it isn't. A mailbox in MH style is a directory containing files
whose names are sequence numbers.
This happen, if you use a filter like
:0
* 1 From:.*mutt-users
some_mailbox/.
No, it doesn't.
some_mailbox produce ONE mailbox file
Wrong. If the name does not already exist, or is already a plain
file, then the mail is appended to it as if it were a single mailbox
file. However, if the name already exists and refers to a directory,
then you get the mail placed in separate files after the manner listed
above. Gerald's problem is that he should not have created
/var/mail/me as a directory in the first place.
some_mailbox/ give you a Maildir
some_mailbox/. is MH style
Those are correct (wth the caveat that they fail if the name exists
and is NOT a directory).
