FTR, some mailers have a habit of inserting a blob of text akin to "if you
can read this, but don't see a file attachment, you need to upgrade your
mail software", which means even if the sender doesn't type any text, the
message may very well be conveyed as a multipart.
There's also the matter of signatures, and possible modification of the
message by A/V and content scanners.
But hey, I'm not the one with the need to send autoreplies to messages with
file attachments, so what do I care?
