I got it too work. Needed the full path to ssmtp.

Now, if I can just figure out how to pass the subject to a perl script so it
can be test against valid POs in a database.

You can send some auto-reply, similar to an out-of-office or vacation
message, but make very sure that you strictly limit the number of messages
to the same address over time (a maximum of one per week, for example), and
never send anything off-topic to any mailing list, etc.

It should be easy to find a procmail vacation recipe to adapt.

Many e-mails come with spoofed details. You need to get those out of your
stream first.
