Yes.  DNS' cacheability, nice async libraries, pervasive support,
ability to get through firewalls etc. is very helpful, and SPF is
still quite conceptually similar to stuff like in-addr.arpa.  It's
still DNS, fundamentally.

BTW on the other issue -- use of TXT or a new RR -- I strongly recommend
sticking with TXT.  I would say a good 97% of potential SPF deployers
would not have the ability (or access) to patch and rebuild their DNS
server to support a new RR.
