BTW on the other issue -- use of TXT or a new RR -- I strongly recommend
sticking with TXT. I would say a good 97% of potential SPF deployers
would not have the ability (or access) to patch and rebuild their DNS
server to support a new RR.
Here here. I rather agree -- Many, many administrators will say "not
worth the effort". Besides, most domains I suspect don't host their own
DNS.
