I think it's important to be FP friendly.

If rejection happens at SMTP time the legitimate but misconfigured
sender gets a bounce with instructions.

Note that you can still send a rejection after the "." so in theory you
can still parse the message but reject.  In practice this seems to be
rather difficult.  Most MTAs aren't architected to make that easy.
