Subject: [spf-discuss] Deployment dynamic: LMAP vs MTA registration schemes
That's why I believe that Caller-ID has a good chance of making it;
Microsoft has the will and the drive to make it happen, for reasons both
selfish and altruistic.
Well, I hope common sense will prevail.
If anything, my design experience tells me Microsoft (and YAHOO) will force
or "encourage" a "new dominate behavior" for mail transport which will need
a modified SMTP. Namely, since CID and YDK both requires the transfer of
the message, there will probably be a big need to split the DATA command
into two commands:
For example:
HEADER
354 Start sending header...
....
250 Header received - validated - send body!
[55x Sorry. Envelope rejection]
BODY
354 Start sending mail body
....
250 body received, Mail accepted for delivery
[55x Sorry. Mail Content Rejection]
Hopefully, it won't take two billion systems to finally see this - I already
see it now.
