Has someone any arguments for or against the parameter in MAIL FROM or a
new command?
As is often the case there is a third way. In this situation, it is the
deprecated reverse source route format for MAIL FROM: in RFC821 that RFC2821
requires mailers to accept but ignore. This format has several important
advantages. It is compact, it is already in the RFC's, it is properly
ignored by all MTA's that are RFC2821 compliant and thus will not affect any
legacy systems. I don't think you can make these claims for either a
SUBMITTER parameter or a separate SUBMITTER command.
