Re: Voters register

2004-11-23 10:38:18
I have been asked for some information on who is allowed to vote.
The register is a merge of all the spf mail-lists subscribers.
There are 4,999 names on the list.

That is not appropriate. I don't believe there has been that many people
posting over the last year and as such public has no way to verify if
somebody is indeed on mail list or not and should be allowed to
participate in election or not. I do believe that at least one post on
one of spf discussion lists should be a requirement. Please modify the
list accordingly or otherwise mark the emails for which we have no
confirmation on previous postings.

If a person is not interested in SPF, they will not be interested in voting.

If a person *is* interested in SPF, they will be on one of the mail-lists
and are allowed to vote, no matter which of the many "political parties"
within spf they belong to.

I agree with John, there shouldn't be a minimum participation level. If you
are subscribed to the list and take the time to vote, we should take your vote
into account.

Everyone says that having power is a great responsibility. This is a lot
of bunk. Responsibility is when someone can blame you if something goes
wrong. When you have power you are surrounded by people whose job it is
to take the blame for your mistakes. If they're smart, that is.
