I have choosen the following string to make the actual DNS request:
%{i}._.%{h}._.%{s}._.%{r}.spf-tracker.example.net
Most SPF checkers do not fill in %{r} but all the other fields are OK
except that I received the following query:
30-Nov-2004 11:30:46.685 queries: client 216.27.178.28#2663: query:
{i}._.{h}._.{s}._.{r}.spf-tracker.generic-nic.net IN A -E
216.27.178.28 is acme.com and they make a SPF milter for sendmail
(http://www.acme.com/software/spfmilter/) which seems quite broken :-(
If such implementations become common, "exists:" could become useless.
