Don't make the mistake of assuming that RFC 2821 (or 2821bis, for that
matter) attempts to "fix" the semantics of HELO from RFC 821. It would
be pointless to do so, as would removing the "checking other identities
against SPF version 1 records is NOT RECOMMENDED" part in the SPF spec.
The (fuzzy) semantics of HELO are set in stone forever, no successor to
RFC 821 can change that. And that's why RFC 2821 sets out to obsolete
HELO in favor of EHLO.
