What they probably meant to specify are hosts within their
domain which in SPF is specified with macros, i.e.
"a:imap.%{d} a:smtp.%{d} a:mail.%{d} ...".
This is what I initially thought or that it was inherent, for example:
a:smtp ---> a:smtp.ionix.net (INCORRECT ASSUMPTION)
So the rule should be to make sure there is atleast a valid domain (with
atleast 1 dot).
I should note that the transaction was a "real spam" of the "garbage"
character type in the message. Been getting a few of those this week,
all with info(_at_)xxxxx(_dot_)com return paths.
Maybe there should be somekind of "guidebook" for those creating
spf syntax and who need features like that.
That would be a good idea in general.
