The policy daemon is approach that is recommended by the Postfix authors.
There are Postix patches to do it internally, but I don't believe any of
them have been updated for Postfix 2.3 yet.
I have to issue a correction here. There was some discussion in the last
week or two about updated Postfix patches on this list. I don't recall
what version the patches were for. It may have been 2.3. Check the
archives.
