Opinions please:
The words "SPF record" can be confusing.
I suggest we adopt the following:
When we say "SPF record", we mean the DNS resource record type SPF.
When we say "SPF information", we mean "v=spf1 ip4:... -all", in either
an SPF record or a TXT record.
I don't think "SPF information" is a good synonym for "DNS record of RR
type 'SPF' or 'TXT' with SPF policy information".
I usually use the following terminology:
* "SPF (sender) policy"
An abstract list of a domain's sender policy declaration atoms
according to the SPF standard.
* "SPF record"
A DNS record of RR type 'SPF' or 'TXT' carrying an "SPF policy".
* "SPF-type RR" or "SPF-type DNS record"
A DNS record of RR type 'SPF' (not 'TXT'!) carrying an "SPF policy".
Eventually the "'TXT' type" meaning of "SPF record" will go away if/when
another revision of SPF that uses only SPF-type RRs will have become
dominant over SPFv1.
