Hi all,

FYI:

Julian Mehnle wrote on the civs-users-l mailing list:
Andrew,

I had contacted you two years ago about a problem with CIVS pretending
the MAIL FROM (envelope sender) address of the election supervisor in
the mails it sends to election participants. (Perhaps you'll remember
quickly when reviewing the mail I had sent you back then, which I'm
attaching.)

[...]

After I had contacted you in January of 2005, you agreed to change CIVS
so that it would use a MAIL FROM address of
<andru(_at_)cs(_dot_)cornell(_dot_)edu> for
its outgoing mails and put the election supervisor's address in the
"From:" and "Sender:" headers instead.

Now it seems that change got lost. Did you revert it intentionally, or
could you make CIVS again _not_ use the election supervisor's domain in
the MAIL FROM?

I don't think Andrew Myers will get CIVS fixed before Monday, which is when
the voting phase of the council election is supposed to start. However,
as the domain of William's address (elan.net) doesn't have any SPF record,
this should not pose a problem.

I will continue to work with Andrew Myers to make CIVS SPF-compliant again
anyway.

Julian.
