Thanks reply
Once the table becomes huge, may it be not so
efficient to use "choose...when"?
By the way I already have a schema mapping all the
correspondant data together(actually they are two huge
column of data).
Is there a way to query the schema
many thanks

for example I have a table or equavalent XML have
below information
1, a
2, b
3, c
4, d
In my stylesheet, I only have a, b, c, d value
but I need to use 1, 2, 3, 4 as a substitution
You will need to use the <xsl:choose> element and
its child elements <xsl:when> and <xsl:otherwise> to
set up the subsitution you want.
<xsl:choose>
<xsl:when test="something = 'a'">1</xsl:when>
<xsl:when test="something = 'b'">2</xsl:when>
<xsl:when test="something = 'c'">3</xsl:when>
<xsl:when test="something = 'd'">4</xsl:when>
<xsl:otherwise />
</xsl:choose>
