In XSLT 1.0 the only way you can "capture" the outcome of a a template
is in an RTF-valued variable:
<xsl:variable name="rtf">
<xsl:call-template ..
</xsl:variable>
<xsl:with-param name="text" select="$rtf"/>
But you can also do it directly:
<xsl:with-param name="text">
<xsl:call-template ..
</xsl:with-param>
