RE: Schema-aware processors - W3C schemas only?

It also has to support the xsl:import-schema declaration and
yes but it can support it with a null set of supported URI's can't it?

 and the validate
if there are no complex types in the static context (as no xsd has been
read in) then validation is pretty much a no-op isn't it? (or rather
comes down to essentially checking that the character cintent is
castable to a specified simple type)

and type attributes.
Again if there are no complex types around and only primitive xsd simple
types I don't see why this requires XSD validation.

In otherwords is it really clear that a system that accepts a data model
with elements annotated with atomic xsd types such as xsd:double...
coming from some source other than xsd validation can not claim
conformance by supporting schema import with an empty set of available
xsd schema?
