Beware that this will sort on the string value of the member element
which means that it will be highty selsitive to the amount of white
space that appears at the start of the element.
I think you want to sort on member[(_at_)name='idstring']/string
Your test file had 
Unique1 and Unique2 in sorted order, with the same amount of white space
so in this case the sorting has no effect.
