Re: Is letting the browser transform XML to XHTML using XSLT a good choice?

Point well taken. Please read my follow-up. Unlike you, I have been around this area for a LONG time -- over the last year various book duties, and projects have kept me away -- but none-the-less XSLT is more or less my life and XSL-List has been a part of that for a long time.

With this in mind, these conversations will happen from time to time, but their rare. The reason I took a personal interest in this originally is that this is one area in the world of XSLT that I have a fairly substantial base of personal experience and expertise, and as such felt there was an obvious need to make sure that there was a lot more too this than what had been brought to the surface, and having quite a bit of exposure and experience to other, non XSLT, but still XML-based langauges, its important for us all to have an understanding of all that is going on. Some of us already do, some dont, so unfortunately that means info is being passed to some that already know it.

All of this said, again, see my last post, but also recognize that I have a personality you will either come to love or come to hate, but in the end it should be pretty apparent that this is all about building and promoting XSLT as a language. Sometimes that can lead to "setting the record staright" posts.. this one in particular hit a sore spot for various reasons, something of which I have apologized for.

Welcome to Paradise! :D

i'm sorry to see you show an attitude that, were not so verbose, would qualify as thoughtless trolling.

given the sheer amount of words that you bestow on this list, i wonder why you don't take the time to grab a coffee and relax a little, instead of transforming a perfectly valid and well-written (if debatable) counter-argument into a flame-war full of personal abuse.

there are certainly places on the web where such behaviour might be appropriate, but even though i've been enjoying this list for a limited time one i'm sure this is not one of them.

Jesper,

Firstly, you have no idea what you are talking about, and it shows.

<snip>

It has nothing to do with web sites. Its has everything to with web
browser support, something you have shown through out this thread you
know nothing about.

<snip>

You've taken your misguided opinion, "generalized" it, and used this
as the basis for your argument. Shallow, pointless, useless, get a
clue.

<snip>

For you. Not for folks who are doing this at the professional level. If you are doing this at the professional level, then you need to
reconcider things... you're flat out, undeniably so far off, its not
even funny.
