Just a note of interest, but your XML looks a bit home-brew. There is
an XML format that is similar (as in, provides same and more
functionality, including a full meta data-model) which is the XTM
Topic Maps format, and once you go down that path there are a plethora
of tools you can use for your various transformations and handling.
