But when this list of options gets longer, it might be better to add
normal template matching and make the precedence explicit:
yes the main reason in xslt 1 for doing trick xpath predicates
like this is for use in xsl:sort where the restrictions of the language
mean that you have to pack all the code into a single xpath. there's no
point doing it in a value-of in real code.
