Hi John,
I use the free version of Saxon 96 (but also have Oxygen, which may have
some other processor). Will your citation work with that? (I am very
much a novice with XSLT).
Went to your citation and was pleased to see the ASN1 reference -- I
developed several C++/ASN1/BER applications for Z30.50 back in the day
(I am 77 now). I will look over the stuff and see if I can do anything
with it.
Thanks,
Mark

If your XSLT processor supports EXPath Binary (Saxon-PE/EE does ),
then you can use the technique illustrated at
http://expath.org/spec/binary#example%E2%80%93JPEG.
Alternatively if you can execute Java functions as extension
functions, then are quite a few possibilities through that route.

I would like to add the placement-index to the XML data source
programmatically. Is there a way to obtain the height or width of a
jpeg image from the file itself (image.jpg, for instance) using XSLT?
Or, can someone suggest another way to do this programmatically?
