This is a resync release. I've been preoccupied with Linux-kernel
stuff and other things, so I haven't done a release in about two
weeks. This one wraps up all the easy bug fixes, most notably of the
unreaped-child-process buf rekared to preconnect processes.
There's still some stuff in the queue; Henrique's rewrite of the build
machinery, and the authentication-mode bug involving SSL. Those are
next for 5.8.3.
By popular demand, diffs from the previous release have been omitted.
