Hello fetchmail friends!
I wonder if this "feature" is disirable. Due to a misconfiguration in my
local /etc/hosts.allow -- there was no line like "sendmail : localhost"
--, sendmail (8.11.3, SuSE 7.2 distibution) rejects mail from fetchmail
(5.8.0+POP2+RPA+NTLM+SSL+NLS) via localhost, but fetchmail nevertheless
flushes the mail from our IMAP4rev1 server irams1.ira.uka.de, as the
following few lines from /var/log/mail show:
Sep 11 05:03:38 i72fs0 fetchmail[3460]: 1 message (1 seen) for doll at
irams1.ira.uka.de.
Sep 11 05:03:38 i72fs0 fetchmail[3460]: reading message 1 of 1 (2623
header octets)
Sep 11 05:03:38 i72fs0 sendmail[19784]: f8B33cq19784: tcpwrappers
(localhost, 127.0.0.1) rejection
Sep 11 05:03:38 i72fs0 fetchmail[3460]: flushed
Sep 11 05:03:38 i72fs0 sendmail[19784]: NOQUEUE: localhost [127.0.0.1] did
not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA
Why does it fetchmail this way? I in my opinion, it's nicer to keep them
on the IMAP server until the mail has been successfully delivered to the
local MTA.
Regards, Mark.
