Hello,
I have been using fetchmail 5.0.0-1 and sendmail 8.9.3-10 for a few
weeks previously without experiencing any problems. After I upgraded to
fetchmail 5.9.0 and sendmail 8.11.6, mail was no longer being
smtp-forwarded to local mailboxes. And looking at the /var/log/maillog
file, I see this entry:
Apr 17 17:41:10 katas sendmail[1019]: NOQUEUE: localhost [127.0.0.1] did
not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA
So it seems that fetchmail is smtp-forwarding correctly but sendmail is
dropping the messages. How do I fix this?
Well, first of all check that sendmail is listening on localhost: telnet
localhost 25. Sendmail security has been much improved (though really you
should be on 8.12.3 IMHO).
If it is then please post the result of "fetchmail -v -v".
Please don't CC me on anything sent to mailing lists or send
me email directly unless it's a privacy issue, thanks.
