yes, the port is open. the setup is for my home pc with a dialup
connection. i don't see a need to upgrade to the latest vesion. unless
i'm missing something...
As I said, 8.12 brings a number of security improvements. If your mail
server is visible to the Internet then you want to seriously consider the
upgrade. However it is your risk.
here it is. it seems that i'm getting an Access denied from a MAIL FROM:
command. i suppose there's something i have tweak in sendmail.cf but i
don't what. i'm afraid i'm a newbie in this area.
Actually you should never edit sendmail.cf directly. From the error I'd say
you need to put the following in /etc/mail/access:
localhost.localdomain RELAY
localhost RELAY
Then rebuild access.db (cd /etc/mail; make) and restart sendmail.
