I had a similar situation, so Sunil Shetye recommended 'sslproto ""'
in the user or defaults line, which worked. You can also use
'--sslproto ""' on the command-line. HTH.
I had a version compiled without support for this option, so I
recompiled just to be sure, and ran fetchmail. I still got the same
error message, and no mail was fetched.
How did you get the output for packetsniff.txt?
I used ethereal, then right clicked on one of the TCP packets, choosed
Follow TCP Stream, then saved the buffer to file in ascii format. I
could send the entire TCP dump, but then I would have problems changing
my password from the file before sending to the list (TCP checksums
etc.)
